Though we may rightly seek spiritual directors and guides, O'Collins stresses the need to recognize Jesus as the ultimate spiritual director, guide, or guru. This book is a reminder not to neglect the wealth of wisdom which the Gospels offer us. He focuses our attention particularly on the parables.
